Before you proceed with filling out our application, there are a few things that you need to know.

The application is long and it is quite involved.   We ask a lot of questions because we are trying to determine what kind of dog owner you are and whether or not you meet our requirements for adoption.   If you have not previously owned a dog before, then we want to know whether you have educated and prepared yourself for dog ownership.    It is VERY important that you answer all of the questions on the application so that we can fully evaluate your situation.    This includes complete, thoughtful responses to the training questions, complete veterinary and personal reference contact information, work schedule specifics, etc.    We can not process incomplete applications, so we suggest that you take the time to fill out the application in its entirety.

Due to the large volume of applications we receive, and the nature of our screening process, it can take 2 -3 weeks for us to process your application.   So if you are in a hurry to adopt and/or do not have the patience to wait a few weeks, we suggest that you look elsewhere.   If you do decide to continue with our application process, please be patient.

There are some things that YOU can do to expedite the process:

  • Make sure that you provide all of the contact information for your references, including email addresses.   Also, please contact your references and ask them to be on the look out for an email from one of our processors.   Often, a lot of time is wasted in either obtaining the contact information for references, or waiting for references to respond.   This adds to our processing time.
  • We also suggest that you (and your references) check your Spam folder for any correspondence from our processing team.  Quick responses from you and your references will help to speed up the process.
  • If you are currently renting, please notify your landlord that we will be contacting them to obtain their permission for you to adopt a lab.
  • Call your veterinarian and authorize them to release your information to us, so that we are able to complete the vet check portion of the process.

Once you submit the application, you will receive an email acknowledging that your application was received.   After the preliminary review has been completed, your application will be assigned to a processor, who will contact you via email to proceed with the screening process.    Please note that you will receive a response from us, even if your application is denied for some reason.   Again, we ask that you be patient!
